In a vibrant display of environmental stewardship, the Women in Water, Sanitation, and Climate Change (WWSCC) today hosted a major climate action and tree planting event at the Ahantaman Girls Senior High School in Takoradi.
The event, organized as part of the global celebrations for World Environment Month, brought together students, teachers, and environmental advocates under this year’s compelling national theme: “Climate Action: My Responsibility, Our Future”.

The primary focus of today’s exercise was to move past theoretical climate discussions and transition straight into hands-on action. Armed with shovels, watering cans, and a shared vision, WWSCC executives and the enthusiastic student body transformed sections of the school campus into green zones.
The extensive planting exercise was strategically divided into two key categories: ornamental trees and vegetables /fruits.
Speaking at the event, the Founder of the WWSCC , Mrs. Sandra Kyere emphasized that this year’s theme reminds us that climate action is an individual responsibility and watching these young women take charge of their environment gives us immense hope for a resilient future.
The leadership of Ahantaman Senior High School expressed profound gratitude to WWSCC for choosing their campus as the focal point for today’s activities. They pledged their absolute commitment to adopting the newly planted green spaces, incorporating their maintenance into the school’s routine clubs and agricultural student projects.
