Michelle Sarfo Boateng is an emerging environmental and biological science researcher with a strong passion for sustainability, environmental protection, and solutions to ecological challenges. Michelle is currently holding the position of Research Officer at Women in Water Sanitation and Climate Change (WWSCC). At the University of Ghana, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences (Plant and Environmental Biology). Her academic training provided her with a solid foundation in plant sciences, environmental systems, and biological research, shaping her interest in the intersection between science, policy, and environmental stewardship.

Michelle is an active member of the Green African Youth Organization (GAYO), where she aligns with initiatives that promote environmental awareness, climate action, and youth participation in sustainable development across Africa. She further developed her practical and analytical skills through an internship with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) – Water Research Institute, gaining experience in laboratory techniques, environmental research, and data-driven scientific investigations. She is currently serving as a National Service Personnel at the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), Ghana, a key regulatory institution responsible for protecting Ghana’s environment. In this role, she contributes to environmental management efforts, research support activities, and regulatory processes aimed at promoting sustainable environmental practices.

With growing experience in laboratory and research work, Michelle is detail-oriented, intellectually curious, and committed to applying scientific knowledge to environmental challenges. Her professional exposure has been complemented by her participation in the Africa Prosperity Dialogue 2026, where she engaged with policymakers, researchers, and development stakeholders on issues related to Africa’s economic growth, innovation, and sustainable development. Michelle continues to pursue opportunities that allow her to learn, contribute, and make meaningful impact within the environmental and scientific community.
