Women in Water Sanitation and Climate Change (WIWSCC) and its partners ENI, TULLOW, MODEC and UNIVERSITY OF GHANA OCEANS GOVERNANCE organized a beach clean-up exercise at Laboma Beach Resort, bringing together partners, volunteers, and community members to make a positive impact on the environment.
The event was a resounding success, with a large turnout of enthusiastic participants. Reggie Rockstone, a renowned Ghanaian music artiste, graced the occasion, lending his support to the noble cause. His presence added to the excitement and energy of the event.
The clean-up exercise was a significant undertaking, as the beach was littered with vast amounts of trash and debris. However, the collective efforts of the participants made quick work of the task. A total of 3,493 kg of waste was collected which included 306 kg of plastic waste, 2,552 kg of organic waste, 632 kg of general waste and 3 kg of glass waste, transforming the beach into a beautiful and safe space. The transformation was a testament to the power of teamwork and dedication.
The event served as a shining example of community engagement and environmental stewardship. WIWSCC and their partners demonstrated their commitment to protecting the planet, inspiring others to take action and make a difference.
