🌍 WWSCC Statement on World Environment Day 2025

On this hashtag#WorldEnvironmentDay2025, WOMEN IN WATER SANITATION AND CLIMATE CHANGE (WWSCC) proudly joins the global community in reaffirming our commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development. Guided by this year’s theme, hashtag#BeatPlasticPollution, we reflect on our ongoing efforts to tackle the plastic waste crisis and its impacts on communities, water bodies, and ecosystems across Ghana.

As a dedicated non-profit organization, WWSCC remains at the forefront of advocacy, education, and community-based action to reduce plastic pollution and build climate resilience. Through strong partnerships with key stakeholders, including Tullow Ghana, Eni Ghana, Zoomlion Ghana Ltd., and Ecozoil Limited, we have implemented impactful interventions, such as:

🌿 Sustainable beach clean-ups at Labadi, Laboma, and Last Hour beaches, effectively contributing to restoring Ghana’s coastal environment.
🌱 School-based tree planting and organic gardening projects that promote environmental education, sustainable agriculture, and responsible waste management.
♻️ Awareness campaigns and capacity-building workshops focused on waste segregation, plastic alternatives, and circular economy solutions.

Below are images capturing some of WWSCC’s activities and impactful initiatives. These efforts continue to empower communities especially women and youth, to lead change, reduce their plastic footprint, and protect our natural resources.

As we mark this important day, we call on governments, businesses, civil society, environmental professionals, and individuals to join us in accelerating action against plastic pollution. Together, we can create a cleaner, greener, and more resilient future for all.

Together, let’s hashtag#BeatPlasticPollution.
